Russia masters new methods of using underwater weapons in Arctic

Officers of the Russian Northern Fleet have mastered new ways of using underwater weapons in Arctic.

The training took place at the main base of the Northern Fleet's Submarine Forces in Gadzhiyevo. It phocused on training use of antimine and antisubmarineweapons, and electronic warfare as well, TASS reports.

Special attention was paid to using torpedoes to make opening in ice for submarine surfacing and using missile weapons in conditions of the Arctic.

On the final day of drills, a competition was held between commanders on the best torpedo attack by a group of ships, along with on combat calculations. The winners received the Northern Fleet Commander’s prize.
